There are no formal prerequisites for the ITIL® 5 Foundation exam. The course is designed to introduce professionals to IT service management concepts and practices from the ground up.

That said, candidates tend to find the material easier to grasp with a basic understanding of IT terminology, some experience in an IT-related role, or prior familiarity with earlier versions of ITIL®. None of this is required to enrol or sit the exam, but it can be a helpful foundation.
